Teeth Whitening

Looking for a quick confidence boost or way to help you look your best?

Professional teeth whitening is a simple, safe and effective procedure to whiten and brighten your smile.

It is suitable to combat thediscolouration that occurs with the natural aging process,or staining from lifestyle factors such as smoking or drinking coffee, tea or wine.
It may be done as a standalone procedure to give your smile an instant lift, or can be done prior to other cosmetic dental work to ensure your smile will look most radiant.
First impressions count, and an American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry survey has confirmed that the first positive impressions all come down to the power of an attractive smile.
With whiter teeth perceived as more youthful and attractive, professional teeth whitening can help with greater chances of success in work and love.

What is the difference between professional and over-the-counter whitening treatments?

Over-the-counter whitening treatments include strips, toothpastes, varnishes and home kits that vary in their price, difficulty of use and effectiveness.
Whitening treatments offered at beauticians and teeth whitening storesuse suboptimal strength whitening agents.  As a consequence, results can be disappointing.
Only your dentist can prescribed the more effective concentrations of teeth whitening agents that whiten your teeth more quickly and reliably.
Professional teeth whitening is either safely applied by your dentist, or by you at home if you are fitted with customized trays that fit your teeth well.  This ensures the most effective agents can be used to provide the best results possible for you.
This video explains the various options of whitening that are available.

What are the teeth whitening options at Sparkle Dental?

We offer two different options from Phillips Zoom

Zoom In-chair Light Activated Whitening

Zoom In Chair whitening is an in-office procedure which whitens your smile in just one visit. Whitening gel is carefully applied to your teeth and activated with a gentle blue LED light for four 15 minute cycles.
Zoom In Chair whitening is suitable for people who are busy and would like an instant result, or those that experience tooth sensitivity and do not want extended whitening treatment.
It uses a light with a variable intensity setting so each treatment can be customized to maximize your comfort. The system also includes desensitizers to help minimize sensitivity and protect your enamel. This dentist-supervised, in-office procedure is safe, effective and clinically proven to whiten up to eight shades—for a brighter, whiter smile in just one office visit.

Zoom Take-Home Whitening

This is a lower cost option to help make whitening affordable.  Whilst it does require extended time to achieve this, it is possible to achieve similar results to the in-office procedure with regular use.
It involves taking impressions of your upper and lower teeth to fabricate custom fitted trays that seat comfortably over your teeth.  The trays allow the safe application of whitening agents to remain in contact with your teeth either for prolonged periods.  There are different agents that can be worn either overnight, or for an hour during the day depending on what suits your lifestyle best.
Typically results can be seen in 5-7 days, and whitening can be continued up to 12 days.  The kit allows the convenience of boosting your results at any time if teeth become discoloured over time with age or stain from food or drink.

How will I know how effective teeth whitening be for me?

Generally, the more yellow your teeth, the greater the result will be.
If you have any fillings, veneers of crowns, these will not whiten.  If you are considering whitening, and thinking of getting these replaced, then whitening first will help you achieve the most radiant result.
If you have build up on your teeth, this will not whiten and a professional cleaning is recommended.
If you have bleeding gums or other signs of inflammation then a professional clean will help ensure that any swollen gums are resolved and the tooth can be whitening more thoroughly.
It is also best to ensure there are no active areas of dental disease to prevent tooth sensitivity.

We offer a complimentary whitening consult to assess your suitability and discuss the results you can expect to achieve.
